8045D - Everest Hiking Pack

Had this pack out on a 20-mile, 3-day trip on the Ozark Highlands Trail. Carried by my 13-year-old son. Load was ~25 lbs. This was our experience with the pack: * Sternum strap rides too high to be practical. We did not use it * Zipper pull handle on a side pocket came off. Had to slide the zipper using our fingertips * We fashioned shoulder strap load lifters with straps we had with us to make the fit and carry of the pack more comfortable * The hip belt on one side separated from the pack up to its joining point with the shoulder strap. This was not a structural or ability to use issue * The shoulder straps would loosen up under the load as we hiked. We had to tie a locking knot under the slider to keep this from happening * One of the shoulder strap sliders broke while adjusting it. We ended up tying the strap off, making it fixed, rather than adjustable The pack was still serviceable at the end of our hike, though only because we were able to make repairs on the trail. I would consider this pack to be a single-event type of pack if used in the kind of environment that we used it in. Ours can still be used in a pinch, if necessary, but I would not plan to put it back on the trail as it is after our single use. In less rigorous settings, or used as a starter pack, this one would perform fine, I'm sure.
